Jordyn Kane, Christopher Caplan, the Vonnie Scott Band and COOPER @AMPLYFi Saturday, March 19th
March 19, 2011
We've been trying to get Daisy Rock artist Jordyn Kane on our stage for a while now. Jordyn is young and upbeat and weaves a great show out of carefully selected covers and pop hit original songs. Jordyn has a strong and beautiful voice, delivering a full range in her set and accompanying herself on the guitar. AMPLYFi in a small, intimate venue and allows the singer to directly connect with their audience and Jordyn took full advantage of that, making everyone she sang to feel special that they got to be here for her show.
Christopher Caplan and his special guest Nicollette Rose have played @ AMPLYFi before and we're not sure how they improved on last time, but they did. We love them, the audience loves them, and if you ever get a chance to see Christopher and Nicollete perform… don't miss it!
The Vonnie Scott Band is packed full of super-talented musicians who clearly love what they're doing and are happy to share that love with the AMPLYFi crowd. We are big fans of Heart and everyone knows you don't cover Heart without taking some serious risk so when the sound check guy asked Vonnie to blast out a minute of something big to check levels on and they decided to hit us with a teaser of a smoking Heart lick… we were thrilled. Nailed it! When the show started with two lovely ladies with acoustic guitars, an electric lead, bass, and drums, we didn't know what to expect. Well, with the Vonnie Scott band you can expect them to take you through a full spectrum of fun, fast rock… beautiful harmonies… soft, slow, ballads… and everything a rock show should be. Vonnie shared a tender song with us that everyone felt deep in their hearts and wow was that a special moment. Oh, and yeah- she NAILED the Heart covers.
Closing out the night was the debut of COOPER on our stage. If you follow the blog, you know we have a huge thing for special, live performances. There's just something about being here when special things happen. Cooper is seriously something special. First off, just to get this out of the way, we're nominating them for AMPLYFi's "best dressed" award. Seriously! But push the eye candy aside and lets get back to the show… tonight was the debut of COOPER in this lineup. COOPER is a trio of guitar, bass, and drums and it seems like the universe lined these three guys up and created a perfect trio of three guys who, by all rights, should ALL be prima donnas but somehow none of them are. Vocals and songwriting are shared between the guitar guys and we loved them both! Cooper's lead guitar work was fascinating, bold, tender, and electric.
